The Marykirk Raft Race organisers say this year will be bigger than ever and funds raised will go towards local charities and CHAS.

A spokesperson for the race said: “This year the Marykirk Raft Race will be held on Sunday, May 18, starting at noon and it is going to be bigger and better than ever!

“The application forms are now available from the Marykirk Hotel so grab one and get your teams sorted.

“What’s better is that there is no need to be an experienced rafter, it’s all for charity.

‘‘Our two main charities this year are CHAS and Carronhill School but we are also supporting local groups and charities as well.

“Come along for the race on the day and we can guarantee you that it will be a fun day out for all ages.

“Not only do we have the ‘Big Splash’ going on in the river for everyone to come along and watch but, from 2-8pm, the Marykirk Park will be filled with activities both for adults and children ....not forgetting the beer tent and the stage of performers.”
