Maureen Watt, MSP for Aberdeen South and North Kincardine, has been re-selected by local party members to stand for the Scottish Parliament in next year’s Holyrood election.
Ms Watt had won the contest with 73% of the vote. Turnout was roughly 50%. Ms Watt first entered Holyrood as a list MSP for North East Scotland in 2006 before winning Aberdeen South and North Kincardine outright in the 2011 Scottish Parliament election.
Commenting, Ms Watt said:“I am delighted and honoured to have been chosen to stand in next year’s Holyrood election. I have been working hard since winning the seat four years ago to help as many people in Aberdeen South and North Kincardine as I can.
“That so many members voted for me is also very humbling and I look forward to working with many of them in the election itself.
“Although polls look good for the party right now I am under no illusions that we will need to reach out to as many people as possible, listening to them about the issues that they think matter most.”
