Mearns Camera club held their first Open Competition of the 2014-15 session which was judged at their weekly meeting in Stonehaven.
Judge Neil Benvie, from Aberdeen, who has judged Mearns Camera Club competitions before, said he enjoyed looking at the work..
He described the standard as very high with a lot of images on view at the Stonehaven Community Centre.
He commented on the decline in the numbers of prints being entered in favour of digital images, adding that this was becoming a common trend in competitions with some clubs not having any entries at all .
This was regrettable as prints have a special quality and skill set all of their own.
He also said he was looking for sharp, well composed and interesting images.
His comments on the images were insightful and mainly supportive.
