Have you ever watched the sailing boats sailing over the sparkling waves in Stonehaven Bay or Loch of Skene and wished you could be out there sailing too?
ASYC is a dinghy racing club for all ages and abilities and would like to welcome new members.
This Saturday ASYC, the local sailing club, is holding an Open Day at Loch of Skene from 10am to 5pm.
Ditta Neumann from the club said: “It’s a great opportunity to look around the facilities. The club use the boathouse and vaulted kitchen in the basement of the stunning gatehouse next to the loch (AB32 6YJ).
“Weather permitting there will be opportunities to go for a sail for more experienced and beginner sailors and look at the various boats that are sailed by club members. There will also be the possibility to go out on one of our fast rescue boats for a tour around the lake. The BBQ will also be fired up and food will be provided.
“All we need you to bring is warm clothing and waterproofs or a wetsuit to wear out on the water and enthusiasm to meet the club.”
The Aberdeen & Stonehaven YC has been sailing at Loch of Skene and Stonehaven for over 50 years. The club sails at Loch of Skene between March and the end of May before moving to their club house on Shorehead, Stonehaven for June till the end of the sailing season in October/November.
There are races round the buoys on Wednesday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays and many sailors go on to compete nationally and internationally.
