An end is finally in sight to the long-running parking meter problems in Aberdeenshire.
Pay and display machines are due to be fully operational throughout the region by the end of the month.
Motorists have enjoyed free parking in towns for months after the council encountered problems connecting the meters to the mains supply.
Councillors approved plans for the replacement of machines across Aberdeenshire at a cost of £95,000 in June, 2014, and the system was due to be in place in autumn of that year.
The authority came under fire from some local politicians who complained that valuable revenue was being lost with the machines being out of action.
Ellon and District Councillor Gillian Owen, a fierce critic of the delay and who at one stage branded it a ‘farce’, confirmed that the problem appeared to be over at last.
