A former Kincardineshire MSP has been given a prominent position in the Liberal Democrats new look leadership team.
Mike Rumbles, the former Aberdeenshire and Kincardineshire MSP who now represents the North East has be the parties new spokesperson for Rural Affairs.
Mr Rumbles said: “There is a real crisis facing the Agricultural industry because of the failure of the SNP government to pay North-East farmers what they are due from the Common Agricultural Policy.
“This is a direct result of the incompetence of Scottish Ministers.
“There must be a major enquiry into what has gone wrong here to ensure it never happens again.”
Mike Rumbles stood for the seat in Aberdeenshire West in last month’s general election but was beaten to the position by Conservative Alexander Burnett.
Mr Rumbles was elected to Holyrood via the list system and he will now be one of the lynchpin’s Willie Rennie’s party.
The North East MSP will also be the party’s Business Manager at Holyrood.
