‘Dementia Friendly Portlethen’ held their first meeting in September at Lethen Park Care Home on Berrymuir Road. 35 members of the community turned out, all keen to make a difference for people with dementia. Attendees shared their thoughts on ways in which the local community could better support people living with dementia and their carers. The committee will be hosting another meeting on Tuesday November 1 at Lethen park Care Home to discuss how they can take people’s ideas forward and turn the discussions into actions to ame a real difference. The meeting is open to anyone in the community who is interested in a dementia friendly community. Councillor Alison Evison said: “There was a real interest from the Portlethen community in our first meeting. Hearing people’s stories, it is clear there is a pressing need for this initiative locally. We hope to make Portlethen a community in which people with dementia can live happily and securely.”
