Over 160 Guild members from Kincardine & Deeside Presbytery congregated at Banchory Ternan East Church for their Annual Rally on May 2.

After business was conducted, the speaker for the evening, Mr Iain Whyte, General Secretary for the Church of Scotland, gave members an amusing, light-hearted talk about himself and about the Guild.

Even though numbers have decreased nationally, the Guild is still the largest single organisation in Scotland.

Iain spoke about the latest theme ‘How to walk humbly with God’ intercepting it with pictures of famous people who have walked humbly with God in their own quiet way and then linking this with the new theme for the next session ‘A faith to proclaim.’

Iain gave members many things to think about and many ideas of proclaiming our faith to the Church and beyond. A vote of thanks was given by Liz Hendry. Music was provided by ‘The Couthie Company.’

Afterwards everyone congregated in the Church halls for finger refreshments, especially a cake made to mark the 125th Anniversary of the formation of the Church of Scotland Guild, which was duly cut by Iain Whyte.

From the ‘buzz’ in the halls it was evident that everyone had a very enjoyable evening of fellowship and friendship and many compliments on the night were conveyed to the committee.

Sincere thanks was conveyed to all who helped to make the evening a huge success.
