Work began on Sunday on the A90 near Muchalls and is expected to last for 12 days.

In conjunction with resurfacing works on the southbound carriageway from Muchalls to Bridge of Muchalls, upgrading works to the footway crossing and central reserve safety barrier at the Dunnyfell Road junction will also be carried out.

The works have been utilising overnight lane closures that were already in place for the resurfacing works.

In addition, off-peak daytime lane closures with a 50mph speed limit, will also be required between 9.30am and 3.30pm from Monday February 27 for five days to allow completion of the safety fencing works.

Commenting on the works Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit representative said: “These works are being carried out overnight and during off-peak periods to minimise delays to motorists. We would however, encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time for their journeys.

“By combining the footway and barrier works with the resurfacing works, we are able to reduce the overall duration of the traffic management by around five days”.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods. The works are being carried out by BEAR Scotland and Breedon Aggregates. They have been planned in consultation with Aberdeenshire Council and Police.
