Giulianotti’s is officially ice-cream of the crop after scooping ten awards at the UK National Ice Cream Awards recently.
The long established vintage sweet shop’s delicious ice cream is anything but vanilla, having scooped ten out of ten awards.
The shop received a silver medal for its chocolate ice cream, a bronze medal for its strawberry yoghurt and a Special Diploma of Merit for it’s raspberry pavlova.
Giulianotti owner Marjory Stephen told the Leader about the awards, which were handed out by the Ice Cream Alliance at the annual expo in Harrogate.
She said: “We were chuffed to get awards for all ten ice creams we entered. This is only the second year that we have entered. Last year we entered seven and got five awards.”
Marjory said she has had a great reaction on Facebook and some lovely comments that wanted to thank everyone for their kind words.
Marjory said the silver medal for thechocolate ice cream almost didn’t happen due to the failure of a pasteuriser, which broke with only two days until entries were due.
When it looked like an engineer wouldn’t be unable to make it on time Marjory was doubtful she would be able to submit an entry.
However after a last minute dash by an engineer she eventually made it by the skin of her teeth.
She said: “I have to mention and thank some brilliant people, without whose last minute assistance we would not have been able to submit our entries for the UK Ice Cream Championships, let alone bring home medals.”
The shop has recently launched it’s Big Egg raffle raising funds for charity. Tickets cost 50p, drawn at Easter.
