The Stonehaven & District Sea Cadet Unit held their annual Mess Dinner when they were honoured to be joined by their Area Officer, Commander Mark Buchan-Steele RN, as the VIP guest. The other top table guests were the Unit Chaplain, Rev. David Stewart, former Officer in Charge, Lt(SCC) Morag Reid RNR and the Cadet Mess President Petty Officer Cadet Michael Blacklaw.

The dinner follows all the traditions of the Royal Navy Wardroom including being piped into dinner, various graces and toasts, the National Anthem, speeches and musical entertainment. The Unit committee and staff prepare and serve the meal as a thank you for all the exceptional efforts during the year. This year’s dinner was also rather unique as more than half of it was conducted, by candlelight! Due to the extreme weather conditions, the town suffered a power cut which included the Unit Headquarters.
