Sea Cadets bound for London again

It was a glorious sunny day at Greenock Great harbour as Sea Cadets from all over Scotland and north-east England gathered for their annual Northern Area Regatta rowing competition.

Grampian District won the Junior Boys and Junior Girls classes, both crewed by cadets from Stonehaven & District Unit and they will now be going on to London as part of the Area team in September for the National Combined Regatta to be held at the Excel Centre.

The Open Boys (Stonehaven) team came in third in their event and Open Girls (Peterhead) finished fourth. These results meant that Grampian won the Overall Rowing trophy for another consecutive year. It has been a source of pride for the Unit that they have had at least one team representing their Area at the National competition every year since 1960 and this tradition remains unbroken.

The cadets are now gearing up for two more Area competitions near the end of the month, with Area Sailing on June 22 and Area Paddlesports in Linlithgow on June 23.
