Stonehaven Town Partnership are exploring ideas for the town’s former Sheriff Court and asking the public to get involved.
Closure was announced back in April 2013 with approval from the Scottish Governement given in June last year.#
The court finally closed in May.
David Fleming, of STP, said: “Following the closure of the Stonehaven Sheriff Court a few months ago, the large Grade B listed building at the junction of the High Street and Dunnottar Avenue now lies empty and forlorn.
“Incidentally, the Police Station is still in full use, and the Police have no intention of moving out. So what is going to happen to the court building? There are some limitations as to what can happen.
“These restrictions makes it a difficult proposition for a developer simply to convert it into flats or a hotel. On inspection, it is not very suitable for these uses anyway.
“Stonehaven Town Partnership - on behalf of the town - is exploring what other uses might be feasible.
‘‘ They are looking for some innovative usage. If you have any ideas, can you please get in touch.”
