Stonehaven disappeared off the face of the earth last week, or at least for users of the new Apple iPhone 5 it did.
Satnav chiefs were left red-faced when certain locations are understood to have failed to appear in their new mapping software on Apple’s latest release. The map shows Portlethen and Newtonhill and nothing down the coast until Inverbervie.
The blunder appears on Apple’s update for iPhones, iPads and iPods which all feature the latest update of satellite navigation app.
However it wasn’t only Stonehaven they missed off, they also wiped off the Queen’s private residence in Scotland.
If someone was attempting to get to Balmoral using their iPhone 5, it would not direct them to the Balmoral retreat, it would instead direct them 10,000 miles away to the resident’s namesake near Brisbane, Austrailia.
Typically for Scotland, parts of the country are not visible due to a covering of cloud on the satellite map view.
