Stonehaven’s Euan to share HMT stage

Stonehaven teenager Euan Lownie has been picked as one of the 24 successful young lads who will perform in Matthew Bourne’s adapation of William Golding’s classic novel Lord of the Flies at the city centre theatre from Wednesday to Saturday, August 27 to 30.

More than 80 young hopefuls auditioned in Aberdeen for the chance to dance onstage with the dance company New Adventures at His Majesty’s Theatre next month.

The auditions were held over two days at The Lemon Tree before a panel consisting of tour director Alan Vincent, project co-ordinator for Scotland Natali Mccleary and executive director James Mackenzie-Blackman.

The search to find the 24 young dancers included several drop-in sessions at The Lemon Tree under the wing of locally- appointed Lord of the Flies ambassadors Laura Cherry and Miranda Sheehy before the auditions on June 21 and 22.

“It has been a very exciting project and we have seen some wonderful local talent,” said Laura. “A few of our boys have either very little dance experience or no dance experience at all, so the next few weeks will be even more of an adventure.”
