Stoney Girls thrilling comeback

Stonehaven Under 13 girls made the long journey to Cooper Park for the return league game against Elgin City Girls.

Elgin made an early breakthrough when a pass through from the right found their main striker who managed to evade Brawley before firing low passed Traynor in the Stonehaven Goal.

Farquhar broke through into the left hand side of the box but the keeper managed to push her effort wide of the post.

Spence then sent Farquhar through again and this time after jinking passed three challenges, poked the ball home from close range.

Stonehaven had the advantage of the slope in the second half and quickly found an equaliser. Veitch and Johnston combined to find Farquhar who broke clear in the box before firing low past the keeper.

Stonehaven continued to press and Robertson found Farquhar with a pass out to the left wing. her instant pass inside found Doyle who sprinted clear and finished expertly in the bottom corner from 20 yards for her first goal of the season.

The Stonehaven midfielders and striker made some inteligent runs which created some space for Brawley who strode forward and finished into the top left hand corner of the Elgin net from 20 yards with a blistering left foot shot.

Stonehaven completed the scoring when Ogilvie won a corner which was swung in by Spence and after some pinball in the box found it’s way to Johnston who fired home emphatically to complete the scoring. Full time 2 - 5
