Last year's Stoney Stroll in aid of Finlay's Fund was a huge success.

A family fun day which was held in Stonehaven for the first time last year is back, and looks set to be just as busy (and fun!) this time around.

The highlight of the day, which will see a barbeque and other activites taking place at Stonehaven’s Scout Hut, will be the Stoney Stroll, a sponsored walk around the town.

Then participants can head back to the Scout Hut for a well earned drink and some food. There will also be a few stalls on the day, a bouncy castle, face painting, the ever popular raffle, tuck shop for the kids and a licensed bar for the over 18s.

The day has been organised to raise vital cash for Finlay’s Fund, which aims to provide essential equipment and treatment for Stonehaven youngster Finlay Sangster (9), who has cerebral palsy.

The condition affects the Mill of Forest Primary School pupil’s muscle development and movement.

His mum and dad, Bruce and Gail Sangster, set up Finlay’s Fund when he was a toddler, to help raise money to pay for the expensive treatments and equipment which all help to make Finlay’s life easier and more enjoyable.

Speaking to the Leader, Gail said: “The Stoney Stroll was such a success last year- it was great to see so many families enjoying the event and making the most of the activities we had organised back at the Scout Hut. The event encompasses the values of Finlay’s Fund - it’s inclusive to all abilities, it’s about family and friends and it’s fun!

“Finlay loved being able to do the walk too, he was able to do it along with his cousins and classmates in his powerchair, it was a massive achievement for him to complete the one mile route independently.”

Registration is from 11am with the first walkers being set off at 11.30am but people are free to start whenever suits them or they can just come along and have a burger!
