Limits Epic Force, a senior cheerleading team from Laurencekirk, were crowned champions in their division at a recent competition in Glasgow.
The Laurencekirk team, which is part of the LIMITS AllStars Club, made their way down to Scotland’s biggest city to take part in the National AllStar Cheer and Dance Championship at the Kelvin Hall on June 16.
Nine teams from Limits Allstars went down to the competition and Epic Force, who competed in the Senior Co-Ed Level 2 division, won at the national competition run by the Allstar Cheer and Dance Company.
The Laurencekirk team is made up of 22 girls and one boy and their ages range from 11-18.
The group also has classes and a team in Portlethen, which have been running for ten years whilst the classes at Mearns Aca demy in Laurencekirk are relatively new and have only been running for four years.
The team in Laurencekirk had been learning all the fundamentals of cheerleading such as dance, gymnastics, jumps and stunting.
Once the group had learnt all the basics of the sport, they were then able to put all of the skills they had learnt into a routine for competing at the competition in Glasgow.
Coach and choreographer Cherry McGrath said: “We are so proud of the team and their achievements, especially for their teamwork and commitment to each other and for working so hard.
“The win has given them all a huge boost and has spurred them all on to develop their cheerleading, improve their skills and attend further competitions together.
“We do have classes in Laurencekirk for younger cheerleaders too, as well as classes for hip hop.”
