Auchenblae Gala Week, held in the village regularly since the 1960s, culminated this year with a sun soaked event in the Den.
The gala is run by Auchenblae Community Association, and Chris Harvey from STV proved to be a very entertaining compere who kept the company informed of events as they took place.
The much anticipated 500-bird Duck Derby, down the Luther, was won by Holly Adams with Caitlin Eddie runner-up.
Iain McFadden and his colleagues of The Trybe entertained the company with stirring Celtic music while the choir from Auchenblae School gave a spirited rendition of the popular song “Let It Go.”
Food from both the BBQ and Pavilion Teas was greatly enjoyed with regular queues throughout the afternoon.
The Gala Open Bowling competition was won by Bill Aitken with Alastair Jamieson runner-up.
Much to their surprise, four long-tanding members of the Community Association, who are stepping down at this year’s AGM, received unexpected gifts from the community.
The week long programme of events was held in near perfect conditions, with only the kite flying and kiddies races postponed due to rain.
The Children’s Walking Treasure Hunt saw over 90 participants searching for clues around the village. Kevin Newstead’s Quiz was hotly contested and ‘marginally’ won by a team headed by Douglas Dey.
Auchenblae children were the focus of attention yet again on Friday, with a Teddy Bear’s Picnic and Disco held in the village hall.
A spokesperson for the committee said: “The committee would like to thank the community of Auchenblae and the many visitors for their continued support during gala week and all other fund raising events held throughout the year.”
