The Bay Fish & Chips, in Stonehaven has announced new partnerships which will see their batter distributed to restaurants and military messes across the Defence sector and Government services.
The new contracts, with ESS Services Worldwide, part of Compass Group UK and Ireland, will see several thousands of employees and high-ranking officials eating the award-winning batter on ‘Fish Friday’ every week.
These contracts have been won off the back of a one-year strong partnership with Compass Group, where the batter is already being enjoyed by ESS offshore workers in the North Sea, used in conjunction with Jimmy Buchan’s Amity Seafood.
Calum Richardson, Chef/Owner of The Bay Fish and Chips, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be in a growing partnership with Compass Group for the distribution of our bespoke batter. The new contracts come at an amazing point for the business as we’ve just celebrated our 10th birthday. I spent nine years working in the Navy and ever since I left to pursue my dream of working with food it has always been a personal achievement of mine to be able to work with Compass Group and give something back to the on and offshore sectors.
“I like to be involved with as many Compass events as possible to support the expansion and development of this worldwide company. Whether it’s taking The Bay on the Road, our first mobile kitchen, along to events to provide catering, or a demonstration with The Bay’s Premium Bay Batter, I’m always keen to be involved and show my support where possible. I’m looking forward to building a strong, longstanding relationship with Compass Group.”
The bespoke batter, which was created by owner Calum Richardson three years ago, is accessible and free of any additives or artificial colourings. It only contains three ingredients; flour, raising agents and salt, and is available for both retail and foodservice use. The batter has been created with a flow-cup system to ensure consistency, whilst guaranteeing portion control and reducing waste.
