A Stonehaven man will be doing a ‘family first’ by completing three events in as many weeks for three different charities.
33-year-old Michael Hopkins will be completing the three challenges throughout September.
On September 11 he will be doing his second Great Northern Run, with the proceeds raised going to CLIC Sargent.
And on the following Saturday - September 17 - he will take on the Crathes Half Marathon for the National Trust of Scotland.
Topping off the trio of trials on September 25 he will be doing the Inverness Marathon - his first time attempting that particular event.
The money he raises for the marathon will go towards the Aberdeen Lung Cancer Fund in memory of his mum, Sue Hopkins, who passed last June.
Michael said: “After retiring from New Year Dip in January as the lead dipper for the last eight years I knew it was time to do some crazy events.
“To achieve this will be amazing and I have had so much support from everyone, especially my dad, Captain Bill as some know him by.”
