Tolbooth to remain open

The Tolbooth museum in Stonehaven has negotiated with the Council to open over the Autumn /Spring at Weekends and on demand from local Schools, clubs and groups etc.

The museum will also open for special events such as “Spooky Stories at Halloween.”

Budgetary savings and redesign of Aberdeenshire Council’s Museum Service meant the Tolbooth Museum was earmarked for closure. Community Groups, including the Stonehaven Town Partnership, recognised the importance to Stonehaven’s local heritage and as an attraction to visitors have worked with the Aberdeenshire Museum Service to keep it open.
