Trek for Breast Cancer

Best-selling Scottish author Carmen Reid is showing her support for leading charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer in Scotland by taking on the challenge of their ‘Perthshire Trek 2011’.

Carmen, whose family home is in the Mearns, is the author of the well-known and much-loved Personal Shopper book series and the Secrets at St Jude’s teen series. She will be taking part in Breakthrough’s exciting new fundraising challenge – a 16 mile trek exploring Perthshire’s stunning Cateran Trail, to raise vital funds to save lives of people with breast cancer.

Carmen, a former reporter with the Montrose Review, is calling on her readers to support this pioneering charity by joining her on the Trek, which takes place on September 10. As well as taking part, Carmen is also helping to raise funds for Breakthrough by running an exclusive competition for the chance to win the fantastic prize of being named in her next book. Every person who makes a donation to Carmen’s JustGiving sponsorship page is in with a chance of winning. Carmen said: “Breakthrough is a wonderful charity dedicated to breast cancer research, education and prevention. I’m delighted to offer Breakthrough my whole-hearted support but I’m a totally hopeless runner, so I was very pleased to find out I could walk for them!
