Two people have been charged after cannabis with a street value of £7,000 was recovered from a vehicle near Laurencekirk yesterday.

A 30 year-old male from East Kilbride and a 29 year-old female from Glasgow have been charged following the recovery after Roads Policing officers stopped a Vauxhall Astra on the A90 near Laurencekirk yesterday evening (Monday October 10, 2016).

The pair were due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today (Tuesday October 11).

Roads Policing Inspector Jon Barron said: “Police Scotland is committed to making the areas we live hostile environments in which to deal drugs. There is no place for illegal substances in our communities and no place for the criminal activity and unwanted behaviour that can come with this.

“Targeting serious organised crime involving drugs is a priority for the Division to ensure the North East remains one of the safest places to live and work. Anyone with concerns about drug misuse where they live should contact Police on 101 or if they wish to remain anonymous the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
