In 1954, Ury Players became a totally independent, stand-alone drama club which is 60 years old this year.
The club has entertained locally in a variety of ways - musicals, pantomimes, plays, concerts, sketches. It has also regularly entered the Scottish Community Drama Association One Act Play Festival having reached the Scottish Final on more than one occasion.
To celebrate there will be an evening of entertainment including musical items of songs from the shows and some short dramatic productions directed by current younger members.
Present and future members plus friends are cordially invited to walk down memory lane on Saturday, August 23, from 7.30pm. Refreshments may be taken along, though the hall will not be set up cabaret style owing lack of space. A spokesperson said: ‘‘As many people as possible will be contacted personally, but please spread the word to those whose contact numbers we no longer have. Present members look forward to the company of past members.’’
