Next month will see the first of an occasional series of events entitled Football in Question at The Grassic Gibbon Centre in Arbuthnott.
Dons and Scotland legend Willie Miller will be in conversation with Andy Hall and will participate in an audience question and answer session on Thursday, April 28, 7.30pm.
Andy Hall, director of the centre, told the Leader: “At a recent meeting, we decided we would try something different to raise local people’s awareness of the Grassic Gibbon Centre and to attract a different kind of audience from that which usually attends our events in the hope that they might return to enjoy what the Centre has to offer.
“We have had several conversation events in the past which have been very successful, conducted by chairman Jim Brown.
“We thought that football would be an interesting theme and when I asked Willie if he would be our first guest, he readily agreed. We are delighted to have him for the event.
“Willie’s legendary status as one of Scotland’s finest footballers precedes him.
“Sir Alex Ferguson described him as the finest penalty box defender in the world. It promises to be a great night on the subject of the beautiful game.”
Alongside the licensed event, there will also be a two-course supper, a raffle and a quiz put together by Brian Duncan.
There will also be a special auction of a framed photographic print of Willie’s favourite place of Aberdeen Beach, photographed by Andy, a well-known published photographer, and signed by both him and Willie.
