Woman cut from car in rush hour accident

A woman has been cut free from the wreckage of a car following a rush-hour crash North of Laurencekirk.

The accident happened at around 8.50am at the Fordoun junction.

Emergency services were called to the scene and three fire crews from Lauencekirk, Inverbervie and Stonehaven used cutting equipment to free the woman.

One female casualty was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with a neck injury.

One other person was also taken to hospital.

A police spokeswoman said the accident had involved a Volkswagen car and a Peugeot car.

The accident happened on the northbound carriageway but both the north and southbound routes were reduced to one lane with emergency services dealt with the aftermath.
