Work on maintenance, cleaning and painting Stonehaven Heated Open Air Pool got off to a good start with the good weather in March and the Pool tank is now painted. However, progress over Easter and throughout April has been slow as a result of the return of colder, blustery, showery weather.
David Dobbie who helps organise the work, said: “We are grateful that our faithful volunteers have continued to support us. But we do need more volunteer workers as there is still a lot to be done, including much outside painting. Of course, this is very weather-dependent so it is difficult to plan ahead. Anyone who can give us some time will be made verywelcome.”
The scheduled work sessions are Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 1-4pm and Saturday mornings from 9am – 12 noon.
However, should there be another spell of good weather, additional sessions may be considered. Filling the Pool, with 290,000 gallons of filtered seawater, started on Sunday 22 April at 1.30pm and will continue, according to tide and sea conditions, over the next couple of weeks.
“Please come along to the Pool to help if you can,” continued David, “We really have our work cut out to get everything ship-shape for our opening at 11am on Saturday 26th May.”
