film, Media and Music Production company XBOW of Laurencekirk have begun rehearsals for their Christmas production of “Not Love Actually” in the St Laurence Hall, Laurencekirk from December 20-22.

Around sixty young people are currently working with XBOW, aged from P1 right up to sixth year.

Ed and Elayne Steel have been running XBOW for a year. Their young charges are to put on three performances of “Not Love Actually” with the possibility of a Saturday matinee being added.

The group rehearses in the Scout Hut in Laurencekirk and Ed and Elayne have expressed their thanks to the Scout Group for the use of the premises at a low cost.

The script for the December show has been written by Elayne and lending her expertise as stage manager is Louise Anderson.

Ed says: “For many of the young people involved it will be their first experience of performing on stage.

“The seniors did a show entitled “Santa’s Dilemma” in the Dickson Hall last year while the juniors performed “The Wolf’s Pancakes”, but these were tiny productions compared with this year.”

Rehearsals began a few weeks prior to the October holidays and additional reheasals are planned particularly for those with main parts.

In order to ensure that everyone is involved there are two casts, which means a boy or girl could have a main role in one performance and be in the chorus for the other.

Ed says that the young people in the group are a pleasure to work with and have come a long way in a short time.

He says parents will be amazed at how they have developed since their productions last year.
