Brighter Bervie needs you!

There are regular work sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm and on Saturdays from 9am, but from now until Thursday August 20 and Friday August 21, folk will be active in the garden every day. We’re looking for helpers with either brains or brawn - it’s a bonus if you can supply both.

Joinery and DIY skills are useful but not essential, as are tools. We’re a cheery bunch so fun is guaranteed. Digging, raking and trowelling jobs are in abundance along with plant care and watering. Supposing you can only spare half an hour that’s a welcome and valuable contribution. Even if you yourself can’t help you must know folk who can, so please encourage them to join our happy band of volunteers.

On the filming days, Thursday August 20 and Friday August 21, we need as many people as we can muster to help with the planting activities. So don’t be camera shy - you needn’t be a celebrity if you don’t want to but please come and be part of the fun action. Let’s show the nation what Bervie can do.

Kincardine and Deeside Befrienders

Could you make a Difference to an older person in Bervie?

Kincardine and Deeside Befriending are urgently needing more volunteers to help them to cope with the growing demand for befrienders for older people in Inverbervie and surrounding areas.

Befrienders are matched with an older person who is lonely and isolated. They visit them for a cup of tea or coffee or to take them out; usually for a couple of hours in the afternoon every week or fortnight.

The Organisation will be running a training course for new volunteers on Saturday August 29 and Saturday September 5. Many people are socially isolated and enjoy the company of a befriender.

Anyone who is over 18 is welcome to apply. Having a car to take an older person out would be an advantage. K&D Befriending will provide expenses and support. For more information and an application pack, visit or call 01569 765714.

Girl Guiding needs you!

Our units in Inverbervie, Johnshaven and St Cyrus are looking for adult volunteers to help with unit meetings. The Inverbervie Brownie unit will be sadly losing a leader after the summer and we need volunteers to come forward to help the unit on a Monday night.

Volunteers don’t have to become leaders to help out and you don’t have to come each week to meetings but may want to help out once or twice a month.

You may have a skill that may help us out, perhaps you are good at admin or keeping finances?

If you are interested in helping out then please go to to find out more and register your interest.

Bervie Toddlers Closure Deadline approaches

Any parents and carers keen to attend, join the committee and adjust the group to suit your needs please contact Group rep Naomi Duncan on 07969506920
