Johnshaven travelled to Finzean near Banchory to play the first of their midweek games this year.
Within minutes a Johnshaven corner by Bruce found L. Dundas who hit the ball on the turn but his shot was cleared of the line.
In away side’s next attack the ball was played into the 18yd box where R. Blease headed it on to L. Dundas whose shot looked goal bound but the outstretched leg of a Feughside defender cleared it off the line. From the resulting corner Dalgarno played the ball into the edge of the 6yd box where it skiffed off the head of R. Blease. It came out to Bruce whose shot was tipped over the bar by the Feughside keeper.The resulting corner by Dalgarno fell to Bruce who hit it on the half volley but it was again cleared.
In the seventh minute, from another corner, the ball was only be partially cleared and Scott Beedie managed to push it wide to Leven who played the ball into Leon Dundas. Dundas slid the ball home to put Johnshaven in the lead 0-1.
Ten minutes later Johnshaven’s keeper MacLean was forced to came out of his box to clear the ball out of danger, but Feughside managed to get a shot on target shortly afterwards forcing MacLean to come out and punch the ball clear under pressure.
Feughside regained the ball on the edge of the 18yd box and tried to take advantage of the empty net but it hit the top of the Johnshaven bar.
In the 24th minute a Johnshaven corner by Bruce was played to the near post where a Feughside player knocked it on, but Scott Beedie ran in and headed home to increase Johnshaven’s lead to 0-2.
FiVE minutes later and Johnshaven had the ball in the net again when L. Dundas scored but the referee deemed the player who had passed the ball to him as off side, disallowing the goal.
Feughside then went on the attack down the right but Welsh went on a diagonal run then and managed to block their shot with a tackle preventing a certain goal.
In the 34th minute a short Johnshaven corner by Bruce when to Milne who ran in on goal and let fly with a shot but the outstretched leg of a Feughside defender deflected the ball. It looked like it was going to be an own goal but the Feughside keeper made a fantastic save.
A few minutes later following a long kick out by the Feughside keeper the ball was knocked high into Johnshaven’s 18yd box where keeper MacLean plucked the ball out of the air under pressure.
Johnshaven made their first substitution at half time when Darryl Smith replaced an injured Aaron Welsh.
In the 49th minute Feughside had a speculative shot but it went over the bar.
Not long after this Feughside regained the ball and their angled shot hit the outside of the post.
In the 55th minute R. Blease slipped the ball to D. Smith who pinged the ball across to Leven who with an over head kick put the ball over the Feughside bar.
On the hour-mark a Feughside corner was played to the back post where a Johnshaven player threw his leg out to block but the ball deflected off it into the net for an own goal, taking the score to 1-2.
In the 66th minute from a long Feughside throw-in the ball was flicked on but D. Smith cleared it off the line to prevent a certain goal.
In the 75th minute a long kick out by Johnshaven keeper MacLean started the attack. Milne then played the ball out to Leven, Leven crossed it to Scott Beedie whose looping header dropped in under the bar to make the score 1-3.
A couple of minute later Johnshaven made their second substitution when Darren Brown replaced Alexander Bruce.
Just after this in Johnshaven’s next attack L. Dundas intercepted a Feughside pass back. He shot, the keeper pushed it on to the bar, and the ball then unfortunately for Johnshaven rebounded back to the keeper.
Not long after this Johnshaven made their last substitution when Stephen Stephen replaced Leon Dundas.
In the 87th minute a Johnshaven corner by Dalgarno was played to the back post. The referee deemed a Feughside player had used a hand to prevent the ball crossing the line and a penalty was awarded. Ross Blease stepped up but the Feughside keeper made an excellent parry. Blease followed up and put the ball into the empty net to further increase Johnshaven’s lead.
In the dying minutes of the game Leven crossed the ball to Stephen who turned to shoot but the Feughside keeper came out quickly and smothered the ball at his feet.
