An amateur football team in Stonehaven held their end of season awards which included a friendly match with the former players taking on the current team.
Cowie Thistle were at Stonehaven’s Station Hotel for the ceremony which was attended by ex-Celtic player Frank McAvennie, who spoke about his playing days, and singer/songwriter/comedian Frank Robb providing the entertainment on the night.
The end of season celebration took place on Saturday, June 11.
There was also auctions and raffle prizes to raise money for the club as they are self sustained along with assistance from local sponsorship. Last season they received donations from the Station Hotel, Carron Fish Bar and Brickfield Motors.
During the day was the friendly match between some former players and the current team.
The contemporary side beat the ex-players 4-0.
The club’s Neil Cursiter said the game was a fun way to keep the former players in the involved with the team.
Several awards were handed out at the hotel on the night.
Players’ Player of the Year went to Robbie Lovick, who was also awarded for being the top goal scorer.
Manager’s Player of the Year went to Neil Fowler.
And the Davie Burgess Award went to Craig Watson for getting 16 bookings in 26 games.
Mr Cursiter added: “There was a great turn out, over 100 people came and we’ve raised some valuable funds for next season.
“A big thanks to Gary Taylor, for his service to the club. He is stepping down as manager and giving the reins to long serving player Ross Adie and Stuart Robertson.”
