Johner had their final away game of the season against fellow relegation contenders Rattrays XI.
Once again a depleted squad meant they were only able to name 2 subs and Sword was forced off early doors to leave just one change available.
Johnshaven started well and took the lead after six minutes. Dunn beat three men and laid the ball off to MATTHEW KEOGH who scored a screamer into the roof of the net from just inside the box. 0-1
Rattrays equalised after 20 minutes following a well worked corner. A deep ball was headed back across goal to find his team mate to nod the ball home. 1-1
Johnshaven re-took the lead after 26 minutes. Dunn won a penalty following a handball. ROSS BLEASE stepped up and made no mistake smashing the ball home. 1-2
Once again the away team couldn’t hold on to their lead and after a good counter move a superb finish from the edge of the box by Rattrays gave Spink no chance in goals. 2-2
Rattrays thought they had taken the lead just before half time but Spink made a spectacular diving save as the ball look destined for the back of the net.
Half Time Score 2-2
Johnshaven created many more chances in the second half but couldn’t convert. Dunn was unlucky to see his header tipped away at the beginning of the half and Couineaux-Rice had a great chance from 10 yards out after Cammy Spink had played in a great ball but the energetic winger couldn’t generate much power in his shot.
At the other end Scott Spink pulled off a couple of brilliant saves and his brother Cammy cleared off the line superbly to maintain Johnshaven remaining level.
Craig replaced the injured Dunn with 15 minutes to go and Blease, Keogh and Smith all had to carry on in the closing stages with injuries due to no more subs being available.
Johner battled right to the death though to hold on. A draw beforehand would have thought to be useless before the match but if results have favoured us there may still be all to play for come Wednesday’s home game against Great Western United.
