Stonehaven Football Club were in action at the weekend when they hosted Maud in the North Region Superleague.
A solitary goal in the 54th minute by Adam McWilliam was enough to secure the three points for the Hive.
The home side were denied what appeared to be a clear cut penalty but the teams went into half-time level.
But some high pressing from Stonehaven in the second half paid off when McWillam scored, and when Maud went down to 10-men after defender Lawson was show red the game proved too far for them to comeback.
Stonehaven now sit third in the league on equal points with second-placed Banks o’ Dee – however the Aberdeen side do have two games in hand. However, both teams have games in hand – Banks o’ Dee five and Stonehaven three – against league leaders Dyce Juniors, so there is still plenty to play for as the league reaches its final stages.
