A memorial bench has been placed overlooking Glenury Park, home to Stonehaven Football Club, in honour of an important couple to the club.
The bench, situated behind one of the goalposts at the Hives’ pitch, is dedicated to George Warrender – affectionately called ‘Auld Dod’ – and his wife, Rosie.
George died in 2015, and gave many years of his life to the club, both as a supporter and committee member.
Rosie ran the tea shop for a number of years before her untimely passing in 1985.
Georgina, daughter of Dod and Rosie, said: “This is a great honour to my parents, and I would like to most sincerely thank Stonehaven Juniors and the committee for allowing this to happen.
“As Dod’s favourite saying goes, the Hive’s alive.”
