The clocks changed in the early hours of Sunday, but with the players well warned it was the referee who made a late appearance and this Matrix Cup tie was last to kick off at sun drenched Broomfield.
After a scrappy start Fordoun Galaxy struck first when Murray did well on the left to create a chance for R Welsh who finished well.
Fordoun started the second half brightly and forced early corners but could not convert the opportunities. Keddie then took things into his own hands, weaving his way into the box before being brought down by a Picture House defender to win a penalty. Galaxy have had mixed results from the spot this year but the midfielder got up and converted the penalty confidently to double Fordoun’s lead.
Fordoun were in control but gifted House a way back into the tie. The ball should have been cleared on at least three occasions but it wasn’t and when the opportunity came, a Picture House attacker left Tough with no chance.
Fordoun extended their lead again when a R Welsh corner was headed home by Keddie.
Fordoun forced some more corners but were made to sweat again when a defender cut out a Picture House cross before slicing his clearance into the bottom corner of his own net and past the helpless Tough with 10 minutes to play.
Picture House had their tails up but didn’t force Tough into action again and McComiskie finally put the tie to bed finishing well with three minutes to play. The match came to a close with Fordoun earning the right to play Marykirk away from home in the quarter final.
