With the Fordoun grass cut and the pitch in fine nick Fordoun were able to return to their home ground for this League Cup fixture. Hudsons were looking for the win that would seal qualification whilst Fordoun were trying to keep their cup dream alive.

Fordoun made the perfect start when McComiskie turned on the edge of the box and shot into the bottom corner inside one minute.

Hudsons fought back and Milne had to leave his line quickly to deny a visiting attacker, blocking with his legs in the seventh minute. Then a Hudsons attacker went down theatrically in the box and his claims for a penalty kick were waved away.

Fordoun went in search of a second and Thomson cut back for M Deans whose shot was saved and from the resulting corner Simpson shot into the side netting.

McCOMISKIE added a brilliant second in the 17th minute when he picked up the ball thirty yards from goal and sent an unstoppable shot across the keeper and into the top corner.

Hudsons fired over the bar in the 19th and 23rd minutes, in the 28th minute McComiskie headed past the post for Fordoun. In the 30th minute McComiskie had another effort which flashed across the face of the Hudsons goal.

In the 31st minute Cuthill found Keddie but the midfielder’s shot was saved. Four minutes later Fordoun survived a scramble inside their 18 yard box. McComiskie saw his first penalty appeal of the day waved away in the 37th minute and in the last action of the half Milne pushed away a Hudsons free kick with a save for the cameras.

Hudsons had the first chance of the half when Milne made a sharp save to his right hand side. In the 55th minute R Stirling sent McComiskie in behind the visiting defence and his fierce shot went past the post.

Hudsons pulled one back in 70 minutes when an attacker was given too much time and space and finished well. In the 78th minute Cruickshank prevented a Hudsons equaliser with a great last ditch tackle.

With seven minutes remaining Keddie shot over after good hold up play by McComiskie. Disaster struck for the Galaxy when Cruickshank was deemed to have fouled an attacker in the box and Hudsons made no mistake from the spot. Galaxy kept going and a Murray corner was headed past by Cuthill.

Then the game came to a controversial end as what looked a big shout for a penalty after a foul on McComiskie was waved away by the referee. Cuthill was red carded for apparent dissent shortly before McComiskie was given a second booking and also sent off for the same offence.

It was a stormy and unnecessary end to a game which had been played in a good manner but the result means Fordoun need to beat City Royal on Thursday to earn another shot at Hudsons in a play off to qualify second from Group B.
