Johnshaven beat Newtonhill 7-6 in a Division One East match which rained goals.
In the 5th minute a great chip over the top from Beedie found Nayland MacLaren who beat the Newtonhill keeper. In 11 minutes Dalgarno put in a great cross and Paul Haggart headed into the top corner to increase Johnshaven’s lead.
In the 17th minute Johnshaven were awarded a penalty and Newtonhill were reduced to 10 men. Ross Blease converted into the bottom corner. Two minutes later, Newtonhill were awarded a penalty but blasted over the bar.
In the 22nd minute a poor clearance by Johnshaven allowed the ball to go to a Newtonhill striker who scored from the edge of the box. In the 32nd minute Newtonhill hit on the counter-attack and pulled back another goal. Two minutes later great battling by Leven down the right found Paul Haggart who drilled the ball into the net. Three minutes later a Newtonhill shot was spilled and a striker followed up to make the score 4-3.
Four minutes into the second half Haggart volleyed home for 5-3. Five minutes later a long ball from Newtonhill was headed home for their fourth.
In the 57th minute Haggart who miss hit his shot but Graham Walger was on hand to tap home. In the 79th minute Johnshaven gave away a penalty which was convert by Newtonhill to make the score 6-5.
In the 87th minute Ross Blease rounded the keeper and tapped the ball over the line to make the score 7-5. A couple of minutes later a shot was parried but Newtonhill scored from the rebound.
