Johnshaven beat the freeze

In one of only two games played in the whole of the Aberdeenshire Amateur League, Johnshaven narrowly lost to Lads Club Amateurs.

In the 3rd minute following a hand ball Lads Club were awarded a penalty which was saved by the Johnshaven trialist goalkeeper.

A minute later Lads Club put the ball into the bottom corner to take the lead, then in the 6th minute in a goalmouth scramble, Lads Club scored a second.

In the 16th minute Smith who put in a good cross but the final shot from Scott Beedie was saved.

Johnshaven were back in the game in the 28th minute. David Beedie did a brilliant overhead kick then turned and ran on and rounded a player before putting the ball into the net for his first goal for the club.

Four minutes later, Lads Club broke through the Johnshaven defence and fired home to make the score 1-3.

In the 39th minute a shot was saved by the trialist keeper.

Johnshaven were back to within a goal minutes into the second half. David Beedie played the ball through to Steven Smith who curled it round the Lads Club keeper.

On the hour mark, following some good play between Dalgarno and Smith, Scott Beedie got his foot to a cross and made the score 3-3.

Minutes later Lads Club played a through ball to one of their players and he made it 4-3

In the 66th minute Ross Blease’s hit the side netting, then Walger played the ball up the line to Smith and his shot was blocked.

A low shot from Ross Blease was saved by the diving Lads Club keeper.

In the 88th minute Smith put in a shot which the Lads Club keeper caught under pressure from Carnegie.

In stoppage-time, Johnshaven pressed, but could not find the goal they needed that would have given them the point they deserved from the game.
