Johnshaven score five at Rothie Rovers

Johnshaven made the long trip to Rothienorman on April 7 with the bare eleven players, but an early second half blitz, made the journey home a good one.

In the fourth minute a David Beedie cross to the far post looked destined for Hood, but the Rothie goalkeeper somehow managed to fingertip the ball away.

Johnshaven undeservedly went a goal down in the 17th minute. After conceding a needless corner, the set piece was not dealt with by the away team and when the ball fell to the Rothie striker on the edge of the box, it fizzed into the top corner to give keeper Taylor no chance.

Within four minutes Johnshaven grabbed an equaliser. David Beedie broke on the right and decided to go himself. After cutting inside and beating three men, his powerful left foot strike found the back of the net.

In the 32nd minute a Rothie effort from the edge of the box beat keeper Taylor, to give the home team the lead once again.

Johnshaven nearly got a goal back just before half time, when a long ball from David Beedie was knocked on by Hood to Smith, but his stinging strike was parried away well by the goalkeeper with Stuart Beedie closing in for a rebound.

Johnshaven started the second half with a bang. In the 46th minute a free kick from Blease was flicked on by Crawford, a touch only Jack Dalgarno anticipated and his left-foot strike gave the keeper no chance.

In the 49th minute a long thrown in from MacLaren was flicked on by a Rothie defender into his own net.

It was 2-4 just two minutes later with the goal of the game. Smith switched the ball to David Beedie, who beat two men cut inside and blasted the ball into the top corner.

In the 69th minute Stuart Beedie had a long range effort sailing wide, but Hood nearly managed to deflect it home with an acrobatic diving header.

In the 73rd minute Johnshaven wrapped up the points. S Beedie fed Hood who played an excellent through ball to the onrushing Kevin Crawford and he calmly slotted home.

Rothie did pull a goal back on the 80th minute. Taylor did excellently to tip over a header from a Rothie striker, but the corner that was conceded was not dealt with so well and a Rothie player headed home.

An excellent battling display, saw Johnshaven make it, four wins from four and remain in fourth place in the league. Man of the Match was Ross Blease.
