Mini Highland Games

Hundreds of local pupils and their families enjoyed a sunny afternoon of competition and fun at the Lathallan School Mini Highland Games on Saturday. The games included Piping and Drumming competitions, shot putt, caber toss, sack race and woodland dash.

There was a kilt making demonstration and a display of dancing from Lawrence Dance Academy. Visitors browsed the many side stalls of a duck pond, face painting, bouncy castle and coconut shy and the headmaster himself bravely endured a soaking in the stocks.

The Lathallan Pipe Band opened the event and the prizes were presented by the family of the late John (Jock) Clark who helped create the Pipe Band back in 1956. He passed away this year and prizes were presented in his memory. Thanks go to the Lathallan Parent Association and all the pupils and teachers from Lathallan, Bervie, Johnshaven, Catterline, St Cyrus and Albyn schools.

Winners of the P4/P5 Highland Games competitions were Lathallan School. Joint winners of the P6/P7 competitions were Bervie School and Johnshaven School.
