Seventy hardy and determined riders of all ages took part in the annual Catterline bike ride last weekend.
With a longer and harder route than in previous years, locals pushed against the wind to cover the 50, 35 and 10 mile distances, and returned smiling and triumphant.
Hand crafted bunting made by the pupils of Catterline Primary School helped to welcome and encourage the riders before setting off, ending at Catterline Pier with home-made soup and toasted marshmallows.
Prizes were donated by Bike Remedy, Stonehaven with awards for best dressed cyclist, fastest puncture repair, best cheat, and the much sought after yellow jersey. A total of £590 was raised from entry fees, including a donation from First Drive, Stonehaven and will go to Kincardine and Deeside Befriending, a local charity which aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness in older people.
