Colin captures McNab Trophy

In last Saturday’s lightning-interrupted McNab Trophy winner, it was afternoon player Colin Arthur who managed to take the trophy by courtesy of the better inward nine.

Morning starters Chris Black and in-form Chris Irvine made it back to the clubhouse with scores of plus three before the heavens opened.

Never the best place to be when lightning is around is to be standing on wet ground with a metal rod in your hand and at around 11am play was suspended.

Few of the late entrants ventured out but Colin’s decision to play was a good one to win the Bogey competition.

Leading Scores:- +3 C.Arthur (BIH), C.Black, C.Irvine, +2 D.Milne, C.Nicoll, +1 M.Campbell, K.Douglas.

Sunday’s weather threatened and generally would have shut the course as, in parts, visibility was next to nothing, but the fact that those playing were playing for charity and also all members meant organisers could relax the rules and send the teams out to play.

The excellent sum of £250 was raised for the Erskine charity for veterans of the British armed forces.

Leaders on the day were the three-man team of Mike and Josh Halliday and Neil Murray, nearest the pin winner was vice captain Bert Butchart.
