Can you combat through dense forest, undergrowth, heather, bog, and dirt tracks and still be brave enough to dive into bitingly cold waters?
What if we added 30 beastly obstacles to tackle along the way? With ‘barbed-wire crawl-unders, 12 feet high walls to climb over and muddy tunnels to drag yourself through, this is no walking in the park...still in?
Then grab The Beast by the horns!
The Beast Race will take place on September 27 at the scenic Knockburn Sports Loch near Banchory and promises to be an epic 10km obstacle race to remember.
Organised by Aberdeenshire-based Firetrail Events working with Scotland’s Health Charity, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, runners and adventure seekers from all over the North-east of Scotland are challenged to take part in this beastly event.
CHSS Regional fundraising manager, Paul Corrigan, said: ‘‘The Beast Race promises to be a stunning event, even bigger and better than the inaugural event held at Knockburn last September.
‘‘Last year’s race saw over 800 runners take part, raising more than £16,000 for vital community services provided by CHSS across Scotland. A valued donation of £5 from each Beast runner’s entry fee goes to CHSS and we hope that runners will choose to raise additional optional sponsorship for the charity to help us improve the quality of life for people living with the debilitating effects of chest, heart and stroke illness – people just like us living across the North of Scotland.
‘‘The first event held last year reached the entry capacity within weeks of opening so I would encourage runners to enter as soon as possible”.
If you’ve a reasonable level of fitness, a sense of humour and a willingness to get muddy, wet and tired for a really great cause then this is the event for you.
Solo runners and teams of different sizes are welcome to take part, with great mementoes for all runners and brilliant prizes up for grabs.
After the race, everyone is also invited to ‘feast at the beast’ with great local produce on offer.
