Laurencekirk take 5 points from week 2

Laurencekirk were the only team to take the full 5 points from week 2 of the Mearns league, but its St.Cyrus that remain top of the table by 1 point over Stonehaven.

Johnshavens second game in the Kincardine & Mearns Bowling League took place last week against Portlethen.

The home team of Ernie Auld, Frank Laing, Mary Brebner and Roy Mowatt managed to win by a score of 19-14. Johnshaven started off by far the better, and after 9 ends, were up by 16-1. Portlethen managed to get the feel of the green, and started pulling back, but in the end just came up short. The away team of Bill Webster, Alan Robbie, Jean Stephen and Alan Black were well beaten, with the final score being 30-6 for Portlethen.

Results: Johnshaven 25-44 Portlethen, Laurencekirk 48-30 Montrose H.P, Stonehaven 36-21 Drumlithie, Inverbervie 28-30 L/kirk Mxd, Newtonhill 33-26 Edzell, St Cyrus 29-25 Fettercairn.
