The Stonehaven Running Club had over 30 runners for their annual 5K Fun Run held before new year.
Frosty conditions were not enough to keep some runners away as the sun shone on December 28 with a variety of runners taking part.
Setting off at 11am the winner of the 5k Fun Run was Ali Robertson who finished in a time of 18 minutes 41 seconds.
A club spokesperson said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better day for the run, the sun shining brightly on Stonehaven Bay softened the overnight frost making conditions good underfoot and encouraging 33 runners out in high spirits.
“A varied mix of runners attended from experienced club runners to a number of eager youngsters.
“Setting off just after 11AM, by 11.40 everyone was back at race HQ to enjoy well-earned soup and cakes while the results were collated.
‘‘Ali Robertson triumphed in an impressive 18 minutes 41, first across the line owing to the handicap system was nine-year-old Emma Swanson in an equally impressive 22 minutes 21.
“Many thanks to all competitors and volunteers who contributed to a successful day, Stonehaven Running Club look forward to welcoming you next year.”
