Portlethen Community Basketball Club’s Panthers held their Annual Basketball Tournaments, at Portlethen Academy recently.
Teams from Tayside, Inverness, Alford and local teams from Aberdeen all joined in the fun with two great days of basketball.
Teams at under 10, 12, 14 and 16 played with Panthers’ wins for the under 14 girls, under 16 boys and under 10 mixed teams.
Panthers’ have had an amazing season of successes, with five players making National Squads; Anna Sterk and Faith Wood at Under 11 Girls, Eli Methven at Under 12 Boys and Rosie Sterk and Darya White at under 12 Girls. Panthers’ under 12 girls and under 14 boys made it through to their respective National Challenge events at Dundee and Paisley, and although both finished out of the top spots, both teams showed great skills, determination and team spirit.
If you want to play basketball in the summer holidays, just head along to Stonehaven Leisure Centre, every Thursday; 6pm to 7pm for primary school aged players, 7pm to 8pm for secondary school aged players and 8pm to 9pm for everyone older.
