Late starter Chris Irvine, playing off a handicap of 13, produced his best ever round at Stonehaven carding a three-over-par total of 69 which equated to 46 stableford points in Saturday’s Marie Curie Shield competition.
Early club house leader on 42 points, Stewart Allsop, could take some comfort of breaking back into golf’s category one elite as Craig Innes amassed four birdies on the back nine to take the trophy from him. Big hitting Craig’s score of 69 had a two-over-par front nine 36 and one over par back nine 33 to make up his tally, his only real blemish on the day beings a double bogey six at the par-three sixth hole.
Leading scores:- 46 C.Irvine, 42 S.Allsop, 40 R.Donald, J.Lonie, 39 W.Pittendreigh, S.Campbell, C.Innes, S.Crabb, J.Hepburn, E.Witton.
This Sunday, there will be a Shotgun start Texas Scramble taking place, the hooter blasts off at 9am.
Some times are still available with the cost being £20 per team of four, all money collected will go towards the Erskine Charity for veterans of the British Armed Forces.
This is always an enjoyable event with players returning to the club house just in time to watch the last round of ‘The Open’ from Royal Liverpool.
