Newtonhill Netball Club hold their annual award ceremony

A netball team based in the north-east recently held their annual award night to celebrate their successes in the past 12 months.

Newtonhill Netball Club held their annual award night at the Bettridge Centre on Friday, June 10.

The winners were as follows:

U13 Electric most improved player: Kaitlyn Stewart.

U13 Electric players player: Abby Northcroft.

U13 Electric coaches player: Lucy Henry.

U13 Lightning most improved player: Maisie Griffiths.

U13 Lightning players player: Erin Davidson and Lucy Adams.

U13 Lightning coaches player: Erin Davidson.

U15 most improved player: Chloe Beavers.

U15 players player: Jemma McLaughlin.

U15 coaches player: Jemma McLaughlin.

Royals most improved player: Erin Northcroft.

Royals players player: Katherine Henderson.

Royals coaches player: Melissa Massie.

Sapphires most improved player: Naomi McGillivray.

Sapphires coaches player: Lorna Graham.

Jets most improved: Kareen Murray.

As well as the club trophies, some individual prizes - which had been awarded during the course of the season - were also presented.

Sport Scotland Grampian Young Coach of the Year: Paige Stalker.

Netball Scotland Young Coach of the Year: Paige Stalker.

Aberdeenshire Sports Council Service to Sport: Caroline Walker.

The club has gone from strength-to-strength since it was established in 1999.

It currently has over 60 members and competes in the local ADNA competitions at U13, U15 and senior level and at Scottish Cup competitions.

This season had some girls selected for the Aberdeen District Squads, Junior Pathways squads and National Development Squads and the ladies Royals team finished runners-up in their league to gain promotion to the 4th Division.

The club’s other teams also enjoyed success, with the U15s finishing 3rd in their league, ladies Sapphires finishing 3rd in the 3rd division and ladies Jets finishing 4th in the 1st division. One of the ladies team members, Emily Park, was also selected for the national U17 Long Squad.

The club thanked their committee and coaches for all the work throughout the season and also their sponsors Maritime Assurance and Consulting Ltd, Broad Wealth Management Ltd and Fotheringham Property Developments.
