Stoney gymnast Megan to represent Scotland in qualifier

Garioch Gymnasts were outstanding at the recent National Grades and Compulsory Levels Competition in Perth.

These events are a qualifier for British Finals and Garioch can now boast a record eight gymnasts who will be representing Scotland at the British Finals in April and May. This is the highest number of representatives from any club in Scotland, as well as being a personal record for the club.

The club train at the Garioch Community Centre (behind the Swimming Pool) in Inverurie and are the only club competing at this level not in a full-time training facility, making this achievement all the more remarkable. The girls who will be representing Scotland are: Emily Morrison (12 form Kemnay), Leah Reid (12 from Kemnay), Leandra Gray (13 from Turriff), Megan Wright (17 from Stonehaven), Daisy Willcocks (15 from Leslie), Erin Fraser (13 from Inverurie), Isi Mason (9 from Leslie) and Rebecca-Ann Greig (9 from Alford).

Also competing on Saturday were Regional Grade 2, again this is primarily a Pass/Fail event but without the British Final attached


All of our gymnasts in Regional Grade 2 passed with Distinction.

Olivia Cordiner = SILVER Overall, 6th Vault, 6th Bars, 7th beam, 4th Floor, 7th Range & Conditioning

Hannah Redfern = 8th Overall, 10th Bars, 9th Beam, 5th Floor

Elsie Willcocks = 12th Overall, 10th Floor

Eryn Thom = 13th Overall, SILVER Vault, 5th Range & Conditioning


Emily Morrison = Pass with Distinction. 5th Overall, 10th Vault, BRONZE Beam, 9th Floor, 9th Range & Conditioning. Qualified to represent Scotland at British Finals.

Isla Clark = Pass with Distinction, 8th Overall, 4th Beam, 5th Range & Condioning


Leah Reid = Pass with Distinction, SILVER Overall, 5th Vault, SILVER Bars, BRONZE Beam, SILVER Floor, 5th Range & Conditioning. Qualified to represent Scotland at British Finals.

Leandra Gray = Commended Pass, 5th Overall, 5th Vault, 5th Bars, 7th Beam, 9th Floor, SILVER Range & Conditioning. Qualified to represent Scotland at British Finals.

Joanne Lowe = Commended Pass, 9th Overall, BRONZE Vault, 8th Bars, 5th Beam, 7th Floor


Daisy Willcocks = Commended Pass, GOLD Overall, 4th Vault, SILVER Bars, GOLD Beam, GOLD Floor, GOLD Range & Conditioning. Qualified to represent Scotland at British Finals.

Erin Fraser = Commended Pass, SILVER Overall, GOLD Vault, GOLD Bars, 4th Beam, SILVER Floor, BRONZE Range & Conditioning. Qualified to represent Scotland at British Finals.

Megan Wright = Commended Pass, BRONZE Overall, SILVER Vault, BRONZE Bars, BRONZE Beam, SILVER Floor, 4th Range & Conditioning. Qualified to represent Scotland at British Finals.


This competition is an elite grading is for the very youngest gymnasts who can compete in Scotland (8 years old). It does not have a National Final attached to it, but results will show who is showing potential for future years.

Aphra Davidson = Pass, 4th Overall, 7th Vault, 7th Bars, GOLD Beam, 6th Floor, 5th Range & Conditioning


Isi Mason = Pass with Distinction, GOLD Overall, 6th Vault, 9th Bars, SILVER Beam, 4th Floor, GOLD Range & Conditioning

Rebecca- Ann Greig = Commended Pass, 5th Overall, SILVER Bars, BRONZE Beam, 4th Floor, 6th Range & Conditioning

Josephine Wright = Commended Pass, 8th Overall, 8th Vault, 4th Bars, 10th Beam, 7th Beam, SILVER Range & Conditioning

Garioch Gymnastics Club would like to congratulate all the girls who took part in the competition and commend them and their coaches for all their hard work. The results speak for themselves, to have 8 girls selected to represent Scotland is fantastic and testament to the determination & commitment from the gymnasts and coaches. Well done to them all.

Garioch Gymnastics Club is the most successful girl’s competitive gymnastics club in the North of Scotland however; it also has an extensive participation programme on offer to boys and girls from 4 years of age.

The club, in conjunction with Aberdeenshire Council, offer a quality recreational gymnastics coaching programme at various venues in Inverurie and the surrounding area. Recreational gymnastics classes are led by British Governing Body qualified and very experienced coaches, who are all PVG checked and Child Protection trained, in Inverurie, Insch, Kintore, Oldmeldrum, Kemnay & Ellon.

As well as being fun, gymnastics has many physical benefits – Improving: Flexibility, Strength, Balance, Power, Coordination and Body Awareness.
